I haven't been blogging in a bit, folks, because I've been a bit depressed. And I hate to say it, but it's because of our fans. We've been playing some big festivals lately, and lots of folks are coming to see us, which is fine, but they tend to get a bit close to the stage. They crowd around the stage and scream at us, and the young ladies say, "We love you Thom!"
Excuse me, but I don't even know you, certainly not well enough to reciprocate any kind of feeling you have towards me. And unless I'm mistaken, you don't know me, except through the lyrics of my songs, which I daresay you don't understand if you think I would enjoy having a large mass of humanity near me.

Seriously, we put amps on the stage so we'll be sufficiently loud enough for you to hear us quite well, even when you are in the back of the crowd. You'll damage your hearing if you get too close.
Do I come close to you when you are at your job? No, I don't, because I imagine you would say, "Oh my god, it's Thom!" and try to hug me, which I wouldn't enjoy at all. In case it hasn't been clear from my lyrics, I don't enjoy the company of people at large, and it doesn't matter if you have memorized my lyrics or not.
I wouldn't go on tour unless my fans demanded it, and the least you guys can do is give me some room. Don't mosh in front of the stage. We're not Rage Against the Machine. Be respectful and listen quietly from your seat. Is this how you would act at a play? Be quiet, appreciate the music, and please, get the fuck away.
